Announcing a Secular Service Opportunity! |
|
Interested in a secular service project with the Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard next weekend?
The Cambridge Community Center, a non-profit organization in Cambridge, will be building a new playground for Cambridge schoolchildren in the Riverside area on Saturday, June 19th.
This project is in the spirit of the recent White House symposium on “advancing interfaith and community service on college and university campuses” which Harvard chaplain Greg Epstein and Dr. Bernie Steinberg attended. The White House is excited for us to collaborate on these kinds of things, and we are too!
Check out Stephen Prothero's piece on interfaith service and community here and look out for an upcoming piece by Greg on the importance of Humanist involvement in such work CNN.com.

Help Us Build Our New Playground!
Thanks to the generosity of The Amgen Foundation and KaBOOM!, a nonprofit organization, the Cambridge Community Center is getting a brand new playground this spring. This is a community-designed and -built playground, with the kids’ help. The construction date is June 19th, 2010. Cambridge Community Center needs to recruit 200 volunteers on June 19 to help build this over-due new playground for the Community.
