Handan Titiz is a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education(’07). She was raised in Turkey, in a household of multiple religious views that was free of practice, but was culturally religious in many ways. Having grown up in a family of this sort and with peers from various social, racial, and religious groups, she chose not to identify with any particular religion but with the human side of them all. Handan’s path toward Humanism was strengthened as she experienced the unfortunate causes of memberships to social groups first hand, both in Turkey and in the US.

Handan has been actively involved with the Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard. She has worked with homeless and abused children and women in Turkey and in Boston. She is currently working at a local hospital, in a research department. Her future plans include helping the Harvard Humanist Alumni form a community, and going back to school to pursue her interest in studying moral development.
